lowpasslu · three units, 31 days, all bought at retail
5.9 out of 10
I wanted to like these. The cancelling is the best I have measured under a hundred
dollars and the fit is genuinely comfortable for four hours. Then two of my three cases
developed a lid that no longer sits closed, and the score fell off a cliff.
What we measured
Bud runtime, our method
4 h 41 m median at 65% volume, cancelling on. Claim is 7 h.
Bud runtime, their method
6 h 52 m at 50% with cancelling off — so the claim is defensible
Charge time, empty to full
52 minutes in the case, 1 h 38 m for the case itself
Cancelling depth, 200 Hz
−24 dB on the coupler, which is very good at this price
Cancelling depth, 1 kHz
−11 dB, ordinary
Sub-scores
Does the job
7 — low-frequency cancelling well above its class, tuning slightly heavy
in the upper bass but not offensively so.
Build and repair
3 — two of three case hinges failed inside a month, and nothing in this
product is serviceable. That single number is what drags the review down.
Software and privacy
4 — the app demands an account before it will expose the equaliser, and
the buds work at reduced function until you make one.
Noise, heat, power
8 — no complaints, no audible hiss with cancelling on and no signal.
Price honesty
7 — no subscription, but replacement tips are only sold in a bundle with
a case you do not need.
On the hinge
Both failures looked identical: the lid stops latching, then develops perhaps three
millimetres of side-to-side play, then stays open in a pocket and the buds drain. Unit
three has 31 days on it and is still fine, so this is not universal — but two in
three is not a fluke either, and we bought all three from different sellers.
