Three reviewers, one bench
We publish under handles because two of us have day jobs at firms that would rather
we did not review their competitors. Nobody here has ever been paid by a manufacturer,
and the bench lives in a spare room in Dayton.
- benchrat
- Networking and anything with a power brick. Owns the spectrum analyser and the
opinion that mesh kits are oversold to people with one floor. Reviewing since 2023.
- lowpasslu
- Audio. Ex live sound, allergic to the word “immersive”. Runs the
coupler rig and insists on three units of everything before a score goes out.
- sundeep-k
- Home appliances, air, and anything that eats filters. Keeps the two-year cost
spreadsheet that decides most of our price-honesty sub-scores.
What we would disclose
- Any unit not bought at retail, and where it came from.
- Any prior professional relationship with the maker.
- Any device one of us already owned before the review started.
How a review gets assigned
Whoever will actually use the thing takes it. A router that nobody wants to live
with does not get reviewed, because a three-week review by someone bored of the device
on day two is worse than no review.
